About Licensed Online Information

Using Licensed Online Resources: General Information

The Library@VIU licenses many online resources for use by current students, faculty, and staff, including online journals, eBooks and other types of information. Access to these resources is made possible through license agreements with resource providers.

License terms typically state that access is restricted to current students, faculty and staff, and that licensed resources may only be used for educational and research purposes and not for commercial purposes.

What can I do with licensed online resources?

Please be aware that violations of license terms may result in loss of access for the entire university community.

If you are unsure about how you are permitted to use a particular resource, check permitted uses for that resource through the Library@VIU Journals A to Z List, or contact the Library.
