FYI

2SLGBTQ+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer+), LGBT or Queer studies is an emerging, rapidly-growing field of scholarship.  The links in this guide offer an entry point to the most likely sources for those interested in studies in 2SLGBTQ+ research.  However, as this is a highly interdisciplinary area of study, relevant materials can be found across numerous databases.

Note that many of the sources referred to herein use the term homosexual interchangeably with gay, which usually refers to men, and lesbian, which usually refers to women.

Positive Space @ VIU

Positive Space Campaign

VIU's Positive Space campaign seeks to raise awareness of diversity in sexual orientation and gender identity and to challenge the patterns of silence that continue to marginalize bisexuals, gays, lesbians, and transgendered individuals.

Positive Space promotes the creation of a space defined by equality, free from discrimination and hate. It is a public proclamation of support and affirmation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning members of our community, making the campus a more welcoming place for all.
