Literature Reviews: Using Key Journals

Knowing the Key Journals in Your Field

Another strategy in doing a literature review is to search articles in key journals in your field.

At VIU, this strategy can be executed by communicating with your instructor.

  • Ask your instructor for recommended journal titles in your particular field or discipline.
  • Once you know of specific journal titles, you can search those titles through the VIU Library site.

Searching for Journals

Sometimes, you need to search specifically for a known journal title.

For example, your instructor may advise you to search a particular scholarly or peer-reviewed journal in your field to give you greater depth or breadth to your literature review.

VIU Library has a search function where you can search for a particular journal.
