Accessing and Viewing Videos

LibrarySearch searches all of VIU Library's video content, both physical and online.

To limit your results to online videos, select Streaming Video in the list of content types (in the grey bar at the left of your search results). To view online videos off-campus, you will need to log in with your student number and Library PIN. See the Photo ID & Accounts pages of this guide for information about Library PINs.

Most DVDs and videos are available for two week loans. The Nanaimo and Powell River campus libraries have viewing stations (with headphones) available in the library. Headphones may be borrowed from the Cowichan Library Service Desk.

Criterion on Demand This link opens in a new window
Online feature films from Criterion Pictures. Approximately 2900 feature films & documentaries from various major producers, including 20th Century Fox, Dreamworks SKG, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Alliance Films, The Weinstein Company, Mongrel Media, and more. Criterion on Demand includes English, French and subtitle film versions.

Back to the Basics: A Five-Part Series on Business
Back to the Basics is a five-part video series designed to introduce young adults to the work world. It addresses the issues of problem solving, conflict resolution and etiquette, communication skills, stress management, and professional image. A diverse group of young adults share their experiences in the workforce, giving the viewer a look at what works and what doesn’t.

This two-part series explores ways in which the workplace can be made more enjoyable for employees, and hence more productive for the business as a whole.
